Designed specifically for hostile environments, the Megadoor industrial door has been installed in hundreds of waste and recycling facilities throughout Europe for companies including Veolia, Sita and Biffa.
The demanding environmental and financial challenges facing local councils and waste contractors allow little room for under performance, which is encouraging a shift from standard steel roller shutters to new Megadoors from Crawford UK both for new build and retrofit installations.
Traditionally, standard steel roller shutters have been used in these types of installation but have proved too slow in operation. This increases the risk of vehicle impact damage. Also the traditional steel roller shutter door is highly susceptible to damage as a result of high windloads. The Megadoor can be designed to withstand almost any wind load, a particularly significant advantage where wide door openings are involved. The result is an extremely strong but lightweight structure, which remains virtually impervious to corrosive environments, dust, sand, paint, grit and moisture so often present in Waste Transfer Station and Municipal Recycling Facility environments.
To streamline operations and further minimise risk of damage by vehicle impact and operational downtime, increased opening speeds are available for Megadoors used in high frequency operations. Automatic operation via a range of remote control devices is also possible.
